Oregon's fruit basket thrives on the shoulder of Mt. Hood
Tucked in the shadow of Mount Hood, overlooking the Columbia River, is a fruit basket of national prominence. Hood River County leads the nation in pear production, and the fruit-growing district of The Dalles has the nation’s largest concentration of sweet cherry acreage. Supporting these industries and the communities they serve is the work of the Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center (MCAREC).
