Poised at the edge of the world’s largest ocean, OSU’s Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station (COMES) is the nation’s largest marine experiment station.

Located in Newport at the Hatfield Marine Science Center and in Astoria at the OSU Seafood Laboratory, COMES research is a forum for highly interdisciplinary scientific ideas, as complex as the marine environment itself.

Research at COMES examines all aspects of Pacific fisheries, from genetics to marketing. Whether examining tsunami debris, ocean acidification, or marine mammal migrations, COMES research has the Oregon coast covered.
